CHANEL PARADOXAL SWATCHES & REVIEW

Before i 'met' Chanel Paradoxal 'personally', i thought it was really gorgeous. A part of me loved it coz it was Chanel (who doesn't like Chanel?), and another part of me loved it because its dark purple! I was hunting high and low for it and came to realize that it wasn't even been released in Malaysia yet! I went to Robinsons, Jusco MV, Parkson; The Spring etc and it turns out they did have the stock only they weren't allowed to sell them till mid Aug. I practically begged the person in KLIA to sell this to me and finally.. I 'met' Chanel Paradoxal
Initially i was excited about it (its my first Chanel!), but when i saw the bottle i was turned off because it didn't look as dark as its suppose to be:-(
But when i applied it, i was like WOW! there goes my love at first sight again:-).

under artificial lighting.
The thing with this colour is that i can't really describe what the colour is. At different angling and lighting it projects different colours! Even the shimmers that can be seen in the bottle cant be seen at certain angling. Anyways, the colours i can conclude from this polish are:

  • Dark Purple
  • Lilac
  • Dark Grey
  • Blue
  • Taupe
  • and at some point deep red too!
Damn! no wonder its so expensive! Imagine you get 6 colours at the price of Rm 70 only! :-/.
Application wise i would say its easy to apply. Its a spot on pigmented polish that requires hardly 2 coats to have the perfect finish. It looks so creamy and thick that at one point it felt like i was having choc fudge on my nails (felt like licking it too. thank god im not tht crazy :-D) However i didn't like the brush much. Quite hard to apply with it. Drying time was good- like other high end polishes.
Overall i think every year Chanel comes out with a limited edition polish that is for sure to be a hit (last year was Jade). This year, i think its this:-)

P/S- I'm not gonna rate this polish coz im gonna be bias. Everything is perfect but the brush and price:-)

ORLY VIVA COLLECTION SWATCHES & REVIEW

IF you are one of those who loves fun vibrant summer polishes, then Orly Viva collection is definitely a choice for you. Inspired very much by Latin America, this collection contains 4 hot summery colours:
•Bailamos – turquoise shimmer
•Ole – coral orange creme
•Fiesta – hot pink shimmer
•La Playa – blue creme

The swatches:

* sorry wrong spelling in the pics

Bailamos is a turqoise-blue polish that has a slight shimmer in it. In real life it looks way better than what the picture shows you. Application was relatively smooth. 2 layers is more than enough.

Fiesta is a bright pink that will surely grab attention. Somehow i think it would look really pretty on toes rather than fingers. The application for this one was quite chunky. It might have been the wrong bottle or something as i don't recall any other reviewers complaining the same for this one. Also a shimmer.

Ole is a orange creme thats pure orange! Its not neon or anything like that. Pure orange creme. Its quite hard to find one that isn't too neon-y or shimmery, and i actually found one! :-)

La Playa is a inky blue cream. Very smooth application and the colour is among my favorite for this collection.

Overall its a beautiful collection. It has two shimmers and 2 creams. If you ask me to choose which are my favorite it would be a bit hard as all are gorgeous! But if i really need to i would say Bailamas :-)

So which is yours?

NOTD: ORLY IRON BUTTERFLY & KONAD M57 SWATCHES

When somebody tells me about matte anymore, ill be like oh gosh! please! I've had enough! i'm Matte-ified! I could vomit blood thinking about all the mattes in the world! enough is enough!.
Then came Orly Iron Butterfly. When i saw it, i was wondering if i should even consider wearing it. Then i remembered this Konad plate that was zig-zag patterned so i thought of decorating my nails like lady gaga in bad romance (you know the player thigy, with a mesh like nails art?), cant remember? How bout this one?Rings any bell at all?

I wanted a look like that, so i came up with this:

I should have put gold isnt it:-( dont have it!

It might not look as cool and its obviously messy, but hey.. cant ask much with these free DIY style now can i? So what you think? If u still want the lady gaga style, click here, she gives a better idea on how to do the real thing but  be careful ya girls. Don't poke your eyes with these things:-)

I don't even have those yet and here they come announcing the Holiday Winter Collection; OPI Burlesque.
Im not gonna lie by saying that i know what burlesque is coz seriously i don't! So looked it up in the dictionary and it says"  a parody or comically exaggerated imitation of something, esp. in a literary or dramatic work " Hmm.. or " variety showtypically including striptease " Hmmmmm.. interesting isnt it? Well anyway here is some sneak preview i got from pssion.se

The colours are:
  • Simmer & Shimmer – In this glitter bit of blue.
  • Let Me Entertain You – Multi-talented fuchsia glimmer.
  • Sparkle-icious – Multi-color glitter-iciousness

  • Extra-va-vaganza! – This orange glitter is not for the shy.
  • Take the Stage – A warm orange spotlight shimmer.

Hope you girls like this collection:-)

NOTD: ESSIE ISLAND HOPPING & KONAD M56 SWATCHES

I was suppose to write in a review and post up pics from Orly's Viva Collection. However i was so mesmerized with Island Hopping, a colour from Essie that i randomly choose to wear for today that i'm posting that instead. Ive never worn it before (most of my polishes i only wear once anyway- except OPI Boris & Natasha and Timeless is More:-) My Fav!!). Anyways, i just put this one on coz i wanted to wear something purplish pink to accessorize my boring work outfit (How fashionable can lab coat look isn't it:-(?) and it turns out to be love at first sight!.

I personally don't wear much of pinks and reds because it doesn't suit my skin tone much but this pinkish-lilac-purplish with a hint of grey & chocolate Island Hopping is really a gorgeous colour!(Imagine i tried explaining that to my bf and he was like.."Right...". Boys. never will understand)
Back to this colour: Its so modern and chic looking. It really does complement dark skin. On fair skin; i don't think it will look as unique. Shouldn't be a problem for us asians though:-)

So what do you think? i'm trying out konad so you will see it once in a while. This is a design from M56:-)

CHINA GLAZE POOL COLLECTION SWATCHES & REVIEW

Hi girls.. this will be a quick post as ive gotta run to work. The swatches today is rather short as i don't have the whole collection, and its borrowed (i've got too many neons).

Anyways, the poolside collection came out sometime 2 months back and the colours available are as below.

The swatches ive got here is of flip flop fantasy, poolside, and yellow polkadot bikini.

From left: Pool party- polka dot Bikini- Flip flop Fantasy

The application is rather streaky-especially the polka dot bikini. it was of 4 layers and yet as you can observe; was 'see through'. Drying time is really fast. But then again all neons have fast drying time thanks to the matte finish. This collection reminds me a lot of the previous bloop swatches i did. Same drying time, same application etc. Bare in mind the pictures here couldn't be captured precisely. The colours are way brighter than those here. Alllacqueredup had a better pic. Click here to read more.

Overall i didn't really like the formulation especially the yellow-polka dot bikini. It was really hard to apply. The other two was good. So those who wants to purchase, ill advice you girls not to get the polka dot bikini :-)

- Disclosure: This product was borrowed from Wei Ni. Thanks girl-

Btw.. i found this really scary site that reveals the truth about online shopping site etc. So for those online shopaholic i advice you girls to check em out for you future reference.
Night Owl Says (NOS), “The Unrevealed" - Moment of Truth.

Also for those who don't know already, there is a charity bazaar coming up on 13-15th Aug in Midvalley. Its called MOFEW. Do check em out here

ZOYA REVERIE COLLECTION SWATCHES AND REVIEW

I slept off last night recalling that i haven't done a review on the Zoya Reverie Collection and i actually couldn't sleep the whole night after that thinking where did i put the pics and yada yada..

So anyways, now im here with this huge panda like eye doing this very much forgotten review:-) Please forgive me if i cant recall the colours or wrongly reviewed this collection as its been 2 months since i took the pictures. Hell even the pics arent that great coz hvnt got my tripod yet at tht point of time:-). Hopefully the huge mug of white coffee will help me:-)
Reverie collection is one of the 'new' collection from Zoya. It consists of 6 beautiful duochrome colours which unfortunetely couldnt be captured by the camera:-(:

Adina is a purplish colour with multiple duo-chromes. I seriously mean multiple- there was blue, green, gold etc colour depending on your angling. My favorite of all in this collection

When i saw this colour is was very 'happy'. This is such a beauty. Its a darker shade than this in real life and like Adina it also hv multiple duo chrome effects though not as much. When I see this colour, it reminds me of barbie:-) don't know why.. probably because of the pink.

Laney is a metallic silver with not much of a duo chrome effect. However at certain angle i did see a little bit of greenish hints.

Lana is a orangish reddish colour with a duo chrome effect of goldish if im not mistaken.

Gwin is an orangish coral like colour. Its not much of red in the real life. I love this orange. Reminds me so much of CNY :-) (not forgetting the ang pau :-D)
One of my favorite pink of all- Reese.. Nice duo chrome effects too..

Overall i think this is a great duochrome collection. Its easy to apply and it had a balanced formulation. Application was 3 coats each as it was a bit sheer but its alright. The price is ok. Not that expensive but not cheap as well. The colours turned out to be way better than what i saw in the bottle. Overall- i think this collection is great! Especially since its all duochromes; something thats becoming my favorite day after day:-)
Got to run to work now.. tc..
