OPI RETRO FUN IN THE SUN SWATCHES AND REVIEW

Do you guys remember this old collection from OPI; OPI Retro Beach Collection that come out sometime in 2008? Well guess what? I actually had few colours from this collection so I decided to group them together to come up with this post.
Basically the colours from this collection were:

Peach-a-Boo! – Take a peek at this apricot sparkle!
Sit Under the Apple Tree – A tempting, light apple green.
Lemonade Stand by Your Man – You’ll stay loyal to this refreshing yellow.
Give Me a Coral Sometime – I’ll answer in this inviting pink-orange.
Sea Ya Later, Sailor! – A fun, flirtatious turquoise shimmer.
Calendar Girl – A pin-up, perfect pink-red.

This is what I have:

Lemonade Stand By Your Man.

This is a yellow shimmer that is very ‘sunny’ colour. It looks a little towards egg yolk yellow. Has shimmers on it and it is very very sheer. In fact even 3 coats couldn’t give a good end results so what I did was to put on OPI’s Ridge Filler as base (a sheer white finishing filler) to give you girls this effect.

Give Me A Coral Sometime

Like what the description says; it looks a lot like a pinky- orange shimmer polish. It’s very ‘coral-ly’ and I actually liked it a lot.

Sit Under The Apple Tree.
Very light apple green. An absolute turn on for a green junkie like me. This is by far my favorite colour In this collection. Its very mild green and of course sheer but it looks really good in real. Love this!

Overall the whole collection is of sheer, shimmery collection. Some couldn’t give a good opaque finishing despite having 3-4 coats of the colour, so what I did was to put on my OPI Ridge Filler first, then proceed with this to ‘bring out’ the colour. You can always use a white sheer base coat first too. The colours might be a hit in 2008 but now there is just too many of the same kind. But on the whole its ok I guess.. What you think?

  1. Thanks for the cute swatches!

I thought it was an okay collection. For me, Peach-a-Boo! was the best one. I liked that they did a bunch of colors, instead of red, pink, and coral. I was kind of mad though, because I have Give me a Coral Sometime and I'm 99% sure it's exactly the same color as All Shook Up, but in a non Big 3 Free formula.

  4. Chaos Butterfly- Well u knw i wasnt entirely suprise about the dupes in the brand itself. OPI these days just repeats the same shade with diff name.Especially in reds and pinks. I think its time for them to be more creative in colours instead of names only. Thats y i like the other brands. At least they hv new unique colours

  6. Sit Under the Apple Tree is great! I wasn't into OPI when this collection came out, but picked up Sea Ya Later Sailor not too long ago at a beauty supply because I like blues.
