ESSIE CHIN CHILLY SWATCHES AND REVIEW

This whole love towards grey is still there right? Well it certainly is for me. That’s why I picked up Essie ChinChilly when I first saw it during my visit to KL. It’s a grey that’s not totally a flat grey. There is some hints of purple and brown (not sure which). I wouldn’t call it too dark, or too light as it changes under different lightings.

You can’t see this in the pictures though. Neway the application was great, even drying time was remarkably below 10 minutes. All in all its a perfect shade for all occasions. I cant find a dupe here. Im sure there is so if anyone knows, please let me know:-)

ESSIE MESMERIZE SWATCHES & REVIEW

Good morning girls.
This is a quick post. Ive had this color with me for ages but never thought of wearing or swatching it till recently.
Essie Mesmerize

Not a fan of blue but I surely like this. It’s a blue that’s not too dark and yet not too bright either. Just nice. It’s a blue that can be worn on every occasion, and one that I don’t think is gonna go out of fashion anytime soon.
The application was remarkably easy and formula was great. The only downside for this color is that it needed 3 coats and hence the drying time was a little bit prolonged (about 10 mins or so in this hot climate). But again, that’s nothing a good fast drying topcoat can’t take care of.
Thanks for reading and have a great Thursday ahead!

ESSIE BAHAMA MAMA NAIL POLISH SWATCHES AND REVIEW

I absolutely love dark shades on my nails. I know at times it looks vampy etc, but if pulled off properly (with a proper length of nails and shape), it can look elegant too.
Well the colour I’m gonna share today- Essie Bahama Mama, is one of the colour in my dark shade collection. Though not many like it; I do. At least the color. It’s a dark grape like magenta-purple coloured polish (gosh I’ve got no idea how to describe it!) Neway, you know how sometimes dark shades no matter what colour it is looks black? Well this doesn’t! Under every lighting (except for low light) it screams purple! And that’s what I like about it.

Application wise- its very tedious and I hate the skinny brush which ended up giving me a streaky finish with the first 2 coats. Things got better with 3 coats where it was fully opaque. But you totally got to use a topcoat to have the perfect finish.
The drying time practically killed me too! I painted this at 8 pm, did some normal chores, went to bed at 12, and got up the next morning at 6 with the polish still not fully dried! In fact it had streaks of cottons from my blanket on it! Thank god for my Nubar Diamont top coat that saved it for the day
So ya, no matter how beautiful it is for a dark shade; ill never wear it anymore:-(

Thanks for reading..

P/S- If you girls want me to swatch any colour do let me know and ill see what i can do ya:-)

ESSIE FALL 2010 COLLECTION

Yeay! I can’t believe I’m finally posting this up! I’m so excited about this collection and been drooling all over these colors ever since it came out online 2 months ago. However, you know how slow things can get here in Malaysia so the only thing I could do was just sit and wait for it till last week! So neway due to some inescapable delay I couldn’t post it up till today. Nevertheless, here it is!
ESSIE FALL 2010 COLLECTION!
Limited Addiction.

One thing is for sure; when you have a colour like this, there is no such thing as ‘limited addiction’. Its addiction all the way! Gosh I love this colour! You never get bored of reds isn’t it? This is a classic red. Reds and I usually don’t get along well but this did! Oh.. Finally:-

Merino Cool
Merino Cool is a grayish purple colour that is absolutely gorgeous! I love everything about it. It might not be ‘the’ colour of the collection, but its still beautiful. Initially I thought it looked a bit like Parlez-vous OPI, but I think this is much greyer than that.

Little Brown Dress
Little Brown Dress is like the ‘little black dress’ everyone should have in her dark shade collection. It’s totally attractive and the best is; its brown crème! Not shimmer, not metallic but a dark coffee brown crème! At one glance it looks like black but its not so much of black, its just plain dark brown and I love it!

And now, introducing my favorite of all, Sew Psyched!
Sew Psyched is a green that leans towards the grey side. It’s so lovely! This picture doesn’t do justice at all to the color. Its much darker in real life, almost khaki like, and it has a little shimmer in it. Not absolutely crème. And I like the name! I think I like everything to do with ‘psych’ but this is the thing I’m very psyched about:-)

Overall I Love this collection! Every one of it. I can’t decide which is the best, but if I have to I like Sew psyched the best because of its name and the totally unusual shade. You just don’t get much Grey-green around this days- its all blue green etc.
Application was very smooth and despite using the mini brush and all, it was easy to apply them. And I didn’t even need to use a topcoat because it was already shining by itself. Love everything about it. The drawback probably is the price only. Price was ok. I mean Rm70 for 4 colours isn’t that bad isn’t it? But for a tiny bottle I think it a bit of a rip off. Oh well, Everything cant be perfect right:-D. Rating wise; I would give this 4 colours an A-.

Thanks for reading..

PASTEL GREEN-BLUE OMBRE MANICURE

Hi girls..
Today’s post is all about multicolored nails. Ok not so much of the rainbow “paddlepop” like nails, but multicolor-shaded nails is more like it. I got this idea from All lacquered Up.
The colors I used are; (from little finger to thumb) Green from Skin Food nail vita, Essie’s Apple Mint Candy, Essie’s Caicos & Turquoise, Mixture of Essie’s C&T and Orly’s Bailamos, Orly Bailamos.
This pic I had The Face Shop’s Blue glitter polish on it:
This gives me an idea to make my own multicolored ombre manicure in orange! Going to do it one of these days. Till the.. Tc..

ESSIE WEDDING COLLECTION 2010 SWATCHES AND REVIEW

Good Morning Girls..
The swatches for today will be for one of Essie’s soft shade collection; The Wedding collection 2010.
Due to budget constraint, I could only purchase the mini collection. So instead of 6 colours, I only have 4. Nevertheless, its good enough to do this review. This is what Essie had to say for these 4 colours:
Classically chic with a touch of modern sheen, the palette of shades was created to compliment the beauty of wedding day nuptials

This collection includes:
petal pink - a sweet and subtle creamy pink

walk down the aisle - a fresh and creamy white

show me the ring - an iridescent pearl

main squeeze - a shimmering lilac crea
Sounds yummy isn’t it? Well look at the colours now:
Petal Pink.
petal

Petal pink is like all the hundreds of nude sheer pink that you can easily find out there. I didn’t do any comparison for this because its obvious that its has an evil twin out there. The application was smooth but very sheer. These were 4 coats. Will look really great with French manicure.

Walk Down The Aisle

Walk Down The Aisle is easily one of my favorite polish in this collection. Why? Simply because its sheer white and it looks so much like my all time favorite OPI colour- Timeless is More. Its sheer despite being said its creamy, and like petal pink I had to apply 4 layers. Forgive me for the awful picture. I had a hard time applying this one. Not sure because of the tiny brush from the mini bottle or it is like that. Colour wise its pearly white, and it looks absolutely beautiful on its own, or will look cooler with French Manicure.

Show Me The Ring

This is a goldish sheer coloured polish that I absolutely dislike. One because the application was crappy (again probably the mini brush), two because it looks so yucky! again because of the application). Oh man just look at it! I hate to even post this up;-/
Main Squeeze

Despite being said its lilac-crea, I think it looks more bluish than purple in real life. It’s quite a nice colour, however, the bigger bottle would probably do more justice to the picture.
Overall it’s a decent collection. Nothing new. Just something for someone who needs a ‘toned-down’ look. Will look great on brides to be of course, and for the work look. Be sure to purchase the bigger bottles if you want to get these because again I’m reminding you; the mini brushes are so tedious! And its really hard to apply!. These are retailing for Rm 70 in My Nail Solution.
Take care girls and have a great Monday morning ahead. Hope you girls can cope it better than me. Sayonara..

STEP UP 3D- BROKEN TANGO INSPIRED NAIL ART

Forgive me for this post as it will be a bit sidetracked from the usual nail polish related post. Today is all about dance- the other love of my life (along with my family and job); yea nails is secondary to these. Anyway, I just watched step up 3 a week ago and although others might like all the other sequences in the movie, I loved the tango the most; or in this case the broken tango as it was not pure tango. Not a fan of all the other sequences because that’s not the genre I go for. I love Contemporary- ballet like, and America-Latin ballroom dancing. Not much of a hip-hop and break-dancing fan.

Anyway, after watching that I came up with an idea for a nail art (not so much of an art) but it was seriously inspired by the tango steps. Ok here’s a question: What do you first notice when you see tango taking place? The guy who leads confidently, or the girl who gives in gracefully? I like the girls; and you know why? Because I’ve got no idea how they dance in those high heels! It’s an art of its own! I’ve broken few bones trying it doing salsa so seriously, bravo to those graceful dancers. This nails art is for you:

First I painted my nails using Essie’s Turquoise and Caicos(T&C), then once it was dried, I dapped The Face Shop’s white polish and OPI’s who the shrek are you on it using a tissue paper (couldn’t find a sponge). Once all dried I re-dapped Essie’s T&C. All done and dried, I drew the heels using Bloop’s Black polish and a brush. Easy isn’t it. Hope you girls like it.
Back to the tango story, here is another of my favorite tango video:

So sexy isn’t it? Wish I could move like that. Haish.. A dream that is almost impossible to come true.

NOTD: ESSIE HUCKLE BUCKLE & CHINA GLAZE HOLOGRAPHIC

Hi girls,
This is something out of the blues post. I was really bored this morning and was cracking my head on how to do my nails today that i've decided on this; a combi of Essie Huckle buckle (btw looks a shade lighter from Chanel Paradoxal only), China Glaze IDK from the OMG collection, and one of the konad image from the plate M57.
I wanted something not too loud but noticeable. It should look like it was engraved from one polish instead from two (i hope you know what i mean:-)) Neway, this is what i've created;

With Flash:

Now you know what i mean? I wanted something with the similar colour but with holographic effect so it 'pops' out:-)
Btw, this is how China Glaze IDK looks like (with flash)

Hope you girls like this:-) Its really nice in real. This pictures cant show you the real effect under internal lightings. I got lots of 'wow's from my housemates:-)

NOTD: ESSIE ISLAND HOPPING & KONAD M56 SWATCHES

I was suppose to write in a review and post up pics from Orly's Viva Collection. However i was so mesmerized with Island Hopping, a colour from Essie that i randomly choose to wear for today that i'm posting that instead. Ive never worn it before (most of my polishes i only wear once anyway- except OPI Boris & Natasha and Timeless is More:-) My Fav!!). Anyways, i just put this one on coz i wanted to wear something purplish pink to accessorize my boring work outfit (How fashionable can lab coat look isn't it:-(?) and it turns out to be love at first sight!.

I personally don't wear much of pinks and reds because it doesn't suit my skin tone much but this pinkish-lilac-purplish with a hint of grey & chocolate Island Hopping is really a gorgeous colour!(Imagine i tried explaining that to my bf and he was like.."Right...". Boys. never will understand)
Back to this colour: Its so modern and chic looking. It really does complement dark skin. On fair skin; i don't think it will look as unique. Shouldn't be a problem for us asians though:-)

So what do you think? i'm trying out konad so you will see it once in a while. This is a design from M56:-)

ESSIE RESORT COLLECTION SWATCHES

Essie Resort Collection is a collection from Essie that consists of 4 beautiful colours:

  • Lapis of Luxury Dreamy ocean blue
  • Splash of Grenadine Playful magenta pink
  • Playa del Platinum Elegant and sheer sandy gray
  • Turquoise & Caicos Flirty and pretty tropical aqua

I must say i was very much pleased with the colours.. All of them are so nice and creamy; just the way i like it:-) Take a look at it and judge it for yourself:

Lapis of Luxary is a bluish cream. Very nice. The camera just couldnt capture the shade. Its much more softer blue than this. The first layer was ok. But the subsequent layers brought out such beautiful finish that ill have to agree with the name: 'Lapis" of Luxary:-)
*Lapis= Layers in Malay

Splash or Grenadine is a beautiful pink that i would say can be normally found in other collections too. But its nice definitely..

Turquoise & Caicos.. Hehe.. I never say anything bad againts turquoise so im gonna skip this biased review. All i can say is tht its still on my nails although i did these swatches 3 days ago:-)

Playa De Platinum is a brownish grey polish that caught my eye the moment i saw this collection ( after the turquoise of course!). Its so nice! I mean its something someone can wear with everything. Trust me when you have this on, you will forget about those soft pink polishes you girls always go for when you want the toned down look. Nyummy!!

Overall i think this collection is almost perfect. The colours are beautiful, the application was easy, the drying time was good, the only problem is its a bit costly. But hell.. its gorgeous or what!:-)

With Lots of Love:
