OPI PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN PREVIEW

When I heard that OPI was doing collaboration with the next big movie; The pirates of the Caribbean, I was superly excited! I was imagining some really dark, gouey, black color polishes that will really really portray how sparrow’s teeth looks like, or the ship or anything at all from the movie. So imagine my ‘excitement’ when I saw these promo pics:

Seriously!? I mean really? Which part from this collection looks like the movie apart from the name? All the other movie collection (Burlesque, Alice in the wonderland, Shrek!) looks like the movie but this so doesn’t! I hope the silver shatter will make it more like the movie. Really hope so..

So what do you girls think? Excited bout the collection?

  1. I agree, colours are not so fitting for the name of the collection. Pastels only? Pink Sparrow? Gimme a break!! The only three I consider worth buying are Mermaid Tears, Stranger Tides and the Silver Shatter.

  2. Not excited either. I think they really should have gone with some bold colors on this collection. And I agree all the past polish/movie collections have been right ont he money :)

  4. While I agree that it doesn't really look like it has anything to do with the movie... I am still excited for these colors. I think they are very pretty. :)

  5. I can't say I care much for the Silver crackle, but the rest of the colors in the collection are stunning!

  7. I think this collection was meant to be a new line of Brights first, and then Pirates of the Caribbean themed second. So their first priority was to make the colors light and bright, not to really make it fit with the movie. It was actualy the same thing with the Shrek collection, except for that because of the movie's natural lightness, the interests just happened to overlap. And then with AiW and Burlesque, those were both purely movie themed, so I don't think they can really be compared, because there was no other agenda.

I agree that these don't fit the dark and grungy mood of Pirates of the Caribbean, but it's still the most I've been excited for an OPI collection in a while. From the color wheels I've seen, the colors are totally gorgeous, particularly the greens and the grey. I even like the silver crackly stuff, LMAO.

  8. I think the silver shatter is meant to look like mermaid scales, so sort of like the movie. I'm hoping that muted green will be a jelly!

  9. Hi Nisha, not exactly very piratey. but i like the silver shatter, nicer than the black kathy parry ones. :)
Does the shatter work on any nail polishes or does it have to use with the nail polish from the same range?

  13. Well i dono.. Its just that personally i feel that if they really wanted to do a collection for the movie thn these colors are totally wrong. However, if putting the movie theme aside, im sure its gonna be a great collection. I especially like the pastel colors( almost all) and im sure the silver shatter is gonna do great too. But the Movie theme is all so wrong! Instead they shd come out with a totally diff colors for the movie, and this coll for brights. At least we will have 2 collection thn:-D
