WEAR GREEN FOR DEPRESSION AWARENESS MONTH

Hi girls..
I’m sorry for being MIA for quite sometime now. Im in my hometown and this place doesn’t have a liable internet connection hence the reason for this long delayed post. However, I do hope you girls are enjoying the giveaway Nail Galore is having till mid of Nov.
Anyway, I’m not really sure how many of you know but besides being Breast Cancer Awareness month, this month is also Depression Awareness month. Shocking? Well it’s absolutely is for me! I mean I work in a mental institution and I didn’t even know about that! That’s how much this ‘awareness’ program is spread in Malaysia!
I can’t say much about other countries but I’m really upset with how Depression becomes something that no one cares about down here. Its like no one wants to acknowledge it although its there. The reason? The whole stigma against mental illnesses. Its not that bad you know?  You will be surprised to find out that 1 in 10 people have depression in Malaysia (Although of course this ratio could be higher in real since so many of them don’t seek for treatment.) Seriously girls, learn the signs and symptoms and get treated, or help your loved ones to acknowledge it if you think they have it. The faster they get treated; the probability to get symptoms free is longer than those who take years before seeking for treatment. To know the signs and symptoms of depression, click here or for a simply-fied version, here
Nonetheless, I’m not here to give a long lecture on it. Those who wants’ to know more about it please don’t hesitate to email me. Ill try to help you out as much as I can. While then, the colour for this month; the Depression awareness month is green, and these are the colours I’m gonna be wearing throughout the month. I hope I’m not the only one wearing it:-)

 OPI Cuckoo For this color
Orly's Its Not Rocket Science

Hope you girls like this and acknowledge the fact that depression is a disease just like diabetes, asthma, high blood pressure etc. If those diseases does not have any stigma towards it, why should depression have?
The majority of people at some point of life will have a psychological problem; marital problem, childhood, work stress etc, so seriously, there is nothing unique happening with depression here, in truth it is as common as cold and flu. So i suggest all of you to stop treating it as something unique and start changing the way you look at this problem. Only then this awareness program can be brought to the next level:-)

Take care girls, and don't forget to try your luck with Nail Galore's Give Away:-)

  4. Depression can happen to anyone too. Many years ago I found a lump in my breast and had a biopsy. Leading up to this of course I mostly felt fear, but it was benign. (I have since had 3 more lumps, all benign.) Anyway after that first one instead of being relieved I got severely depressed and had to be treated for it. When this happens it's called situational depression. This type of depression may or may not go away on it's own, but why suffer? There is help for it as well as for major depression and chronic depression. No one should suffer and should find treatment.
