French Mani? hmm.. Some say its way outdated, and some expert says the trend will never go out. As for me, i feel that it's such a waste if it's not the 'in thing'. I mean after all its looks so simple and elegant. it portrays good healthy nails that looks clean and well groomed, that is not flashy nor fussy, just the way many of us like it :-)
So now, What is a French Manicure?
A French manicure is a style of polishing the nails wherein white paint is applied to the tips of the fingernails, and the rest of the nails are given a pink coat or painted with sheer polish that is colored either pale pink or very light beige. The French manicure is very good for short nails and nails that have a moderate length. yap u heard that right- SHORT NAILS!! (thats if you cut it properly)
Follow the below advice step by step and you might not even need to pay hundreds to your manicurist to get this elegant looking baby on you nails:-)
- Prepare your nails just like when you apply other polishes. Clean it throughly. Remove all polish stain and buffer it. Cut your nails square or round depending on your cuticles (if rounded cuticles -square, if pointed cuticles- round)
- Apply a base coat on your nails. Make sure it's a thin layer. Next stick on your tip guide before painting the upper part white or off white. Make sure the white polish is a thin layer or it would look rather chunky. Or you can just get a thin brush and apply your own white tip if you are not familiar with the tip guide.
- When the white tip dries off remove the nail tip throughly. Apply two thin layers for your polish selection and finally a top coat. Make sure it dries completely.
- To extend the life of your manicure you need to apply a top coat every night
Next would be the base and the tip. Which wants to use? For a start, OPI has a wide range of beautiful soft shades that can be used as the base and quite a number of whites to pick from for the tips. More info on that in the next post.. Till next time..
Seems easy...just need to get the french tip guide from beauty shops and some pale pink polishes and white ones.
ReplyDeletethis is the only nail design that i can do apart from just painting my whole nail one simple color. I use tape instead of the white tip guide sticker. But my white nail polish is very thick! can you reccommend a good white nail polish?
